Masts of death

For those living with Telecom Masts , there are grave dangers. Taiwo Abiodun reports

’’ The first time the communication  mast was tested , I ran away with  my   family and could not sleep at home for days for we could not withstand  it.. The fume coming out from the big generator was killing, the sound was deafening while the thick odour, heat   and vibration was too much a burden to bear ”. That  was the beginning of the   trouble for  Pa Afolabi  Oyekanmi, who is now pleading with MTN  to come and take away their equipment as the

 Pa Oyekanmi’s  building is about three metres from  where the mast is located .

He describes the Mast as a   killing squad. Narrating how it all started , he said ’’ I have been living here since 2006, but suddenly I saw my neighbour who brought some people here who came to inspect  it in 2008, I inquired what  they were trying to do but the owner only smiled and told me it is just a  construction  of a building . In a nutshell, a mast was erected. Unknown to me they started keeping  some of the materials in my house. I received all with joy as a Christian and thought it was all from a genuine  and honest mind

 Oyekanmi   while talking to this reporter  would once in a while   look at the mast    and at his fragile body  . He fumed ’’ I regretted entertaining these people  and their materials .Cursed was   the day  the mast was erected here .I am informed that they are planning to come back and start the engine   again, but I can assure you that it will  not last . If I die the MTN is responsible. I will fight   with the last pint of my blood if they ever come back here  to  start the engine ‘’, the 72year -old man vowed . He then  stormed into his room to bring out a  file  consisting a heap of letters  and petitions written to various institutions, organisations    and the medical report  he kept. This is my medical report from the hospital , now I  am very , very sick and I know how much  I spend to buy drugs .

 The septuagenarian lives in Ado Ekiti.  His  medical report from the Ado Ekiti Teaching Hospital  indicates that he is suffering from some diseases caused by   radiation  from  the telecommunication  mast    erected  by  the MTN T3756 .

Narrating his ordeal, he said the man who bought the small piece of land and let it out to  MTN  no longer come to the place  again. ’’I faced horror. I saw hell.  I became sick and was rushed to the hospital several times . When I recovered  I decided to  write  petitions  to the House of Assembly, Ministry of Environment and  Public Complaints Commission . I went  to the governor and I also went to Ibadan ,  their Zonal office . Thank God that  the  state governor Fayemi  stepped in and the House of Assembly members  .After much cries the place was eventually sealed up but the MTN men are now boasting of coming back to continue their business again. They said they [MTN ]built hospitals and buy drugs  for Nigerians as part of their own contribution. .

 ‘’ One of the officials said  they would come back in one of these days  to start it again and that would be impossible  for we    would  then face a tug  of war’’,  he swore  .His wife , a retired school principal  added ‘’ it  is a pity that we don’t have a law in this country , and even if we do  nobody obeys the law or may be  some are bigger than the law’’

Pa  Afolabi Oyekanmi’s health is deteriorating. He  has been diagnosed to be suffering from a disease suspected to be cancer from the effect of the radiation he is exposed to.

From the hospital he was  given a Medical report dated 18^th January ,2011 with hospital card number161830. It reads:

This elderly man who  is a subsistent farmer  was brought into the accident and Emergency Unit of our hospital on 16/1/11 at 10;50pm with complaints of loss of  consciousness associated with convulsions .He is not a known  Epileptic, Diabetic, Hypertensive  or Asthmatic .Findings on examinations  showed lowish BP 90/50 mmHg and subsequent  follow up showed low blood sugar  RBS 4.7mmol/L,He is  presently being managed as a case of  seizure  disorder.…….Precipant  of the disorder  may include machinery vibrations, twinkling light  flashes height and depth, hypoglycaemia and hypotension .It is apparent that locating the MTN mast too close  to their house is detrimental and hazardous  to his medical  condition if not the cause.

Kindly give necessary assistance to address the problem. The letter was signed by the Chief Medical Director , Dr.Adeleye  T.E

The old man has vowed to fight to finish with the MTN if they resurface again and start the engine.

 In Ibadan, the MTN mast with  number T3938,  has caused a lot of  havoc in Unique Estate ,off Olounda Road. While some have deserted their houses  others could  not as they have no where to go. In fact going  round the environment speaks volume as doors and windows were shut .

For Dr.Ogundipe , his family members are all in trouble as they are all suffering from different ailments. His wife , Mrs  Adebusola   Ogundipe was diagnosed of  blood cancer, leukaemia  while  some of her children are having loss of memory coupled with nose bleeding  and have made them to  become  visitors  to  hospital.

Speaking with The Nation, the woman who is a Biology Teacher at N.O Idowu  Comprehensive High School, Ibadan said ‘’  we  are the first set of people to  build a house here, but suddenly we saw the owner of  this small land who came to erect MTN ’s mast here. We fought tooth and nail to make sure it was not erected in 2008 because we know the implication .My husband is a Veterinary  Doctor and he too  tried to resist the owner and  the mast’s engineers from erecting it, but they said the MTN has paid the ransom  of the lives of every Nigerian to the presidency so therefore can erect their masts anywhere that suits them  in the country.

 According to Mrs Ogundipe , it  all started from the heavy smoke  coming from the generating set .’’Despite the fact that we close all our windows and doors to stop the air from the generator from coming in  yet  we began to inhale the  air  from the generating set. Whenever the Telecom  mast is working  our  beddings  would be vibrating  forcing us to   be sleeping on the floor. The walls have cracked  and we have  nowhere to go , so we  were forcing ourselves  to  stay ‘’.

Mrs Ogundipe later started having health problem , she said ‘’I started feeling dizzy and bleeding from the nose  and at the intial stage I did not tell my husband until it persisted  .I ended up  at  the University Teaching Hospital, Ibadan where  I underwent series of tests,  including T Scan. It was here  that  I was  told that I  have leukaemia in 2010.The medical doctor advised us to pack out of the house we live since the result showed that we are exposed to radio activity. I have spent  a lot  on drugs  and I feel for my husband if I happen to die today , blame the MTN who brought their mast into our area’’.

From the medical report  dated 8^th July ,2011she had from the University Teaching Hospital[UCH] the medical director wrote among  other things ,Mrs Ogundipe has been residing at her current address since 2006 during which  she had enjoyed sound health. But in 2008 a Telecommunication base station was sited  next to her house and since them the family had experienced noise  and vibrations .The most recent alteration  in her health was  the nose bleeding and the sensation  of pain and tingling  in the legs. These were also noted in her children……However, the hematologic study conducted revealed neutropenia, lymphocytosis and platelet count of 147,000 per cmm.While PTT test was 41 and control 32,[prolonged].The features appear to be in  keeping with leukaemia.

She has been advised to relocate to avoid further exposure to radiation from telecommunication base station .She also  expected to report  regularly at the hospital to monitor  her blood profile. The letter was signed by Dr A. A. Adeosun[Consultant ENT Surgeon].

The woman in a sorrowful laden voice said; ‘’The result says that  there was a long ray radiation and is affecting me. We were asked to pack out of the house , that was the judgement of the medical doctor.’’

Dr.Ogundipe  said it is not only his wife that is suffering from such ailment as his children too are having same problem. ’’ all my children  are now  experiencing nose,

 loss of memory  and  also have  tingling pains in their legs. We are in trouble’’, she said .

A civil engineering company  came to test the building and discovered it has some defects , this was done     by HEA-BOND ENGINEERS [CONSULTANT AND PROJECT DEVELOPERS].The report was shocking as  the civil engineering reports showed which was   dated 13^th July 2011.In the letter the Engineer wrote….. Site measurement showed that Dr.Ogundipe ‘s house wall is 3.7m from the perimeter  base wall of the MTN station while it is 3.65m away from Mr Oluwadare’s house block wall. Dr.Ogundipe also has a well located in front of his  house which is 4.8m away  to the house block wall.

While on site  noise emanated from the generator which powers the station and there4 is vibration on the foundation soil around the area, Close examinations on both houses situated  to the left and right of the base station shows cracks in some areas  such as window edges etc. ………….Structurally, the daily continuous vibration  being transmitted through  the soil could cause cracks in the foundation and walls  of the buildings especially the walls of the well located in front of the houses .The letter was signed by Engineer A Dare

Dr. Ogundipe said the environment has suffered a lot of losses . ‘’Some of my domestic animals like  goats have died as a result of this radio activity. Some developed tumours,   some just bled to death while   some too suffered cancer, paralysis   and some died of sudden death. One of these goats was already heavy with pregnancy   but we just saw the goat somersaulted   under the mast and died .It was like a film. The reason why it had serious effect on them is that the animals used to sleep   under the  telecommunication  mast. My chickens   are dying , I hardly rear many again. Our well water has been polluted   or rather contaminated. The pawpaw  we have in our compound no longer ripe as they just fall off when they got to the stage of  been ripe.

Dr. Ogundipe argues that  the NCC  did not  follow the   radius metres  the WHO suggested . MTN contradicted the law as our house is only about 2 or 3 metres  to their  mast..

‘’Many people are affected here now, some have abandoned their houses and went back to their villages either to die or….I  know of  a man who had left here for his home town, he had all the symptoms my wife and my children have .I also heard  of one  Professor [Sadiku]  whom  I was informed once  lived  in GRA, he died  from  cancer  which they said was caused by radio activity .The professor  had a mast in his compound and was  diagnosed of cancer  as a result of the mast before he died.’’

Mr Oludare  who lives close to Ogundipe had abandoned his house and gone to  rent another place. He said’’ I have shut all the doors to my house and abandoned it when I started having symptoms of legs tingling   of which the wife of Dr Ogundipe has .Two of  my children are all bleeding from their noses  while  one is suffering from memory loss. The one suffering from memory loss is 14years old while the other two are 11 and 10years old. It is a sad thing to leave one’s house and become a tenant again  .

When The Nation visited  the National Environmental  Standard Regulations  Enforcement Agency [NESREA], Mrs  Eunice Oyibo Eze the Deputy Director , Lagos state Co-ordinator   blamed both the MTN  saying ‘’ while the NTM  and other telecommunication industries who sited their masts in wrong places are guilty  as they did not follow the guidelines laid down by the NCC. We all  know the effect of radio active and it causes cancer , that is why we asked the telecom industries to obey the rules and make sure they  install the mast 10metres to  the wall of a residential building  ’’

They [Telecom companies] meet the landlords  gave them money and erect the mast anywhere in the compound without following the modalities  and this is what is causing all these illnesses especially cancer. In fact  any of the telecom industries found guilty must be punished  ’’

Speaking on the dangers of the mast, she said ‘’ not only is the noise coming from the generating set causes hearing loss  but also the fumes is dangerous while the vibration coming  from the it causes walls of the building to be cracking. The oil spillage  contaminated underground water and the engine oil contains  high level of lead  and could contaminate water from the well. The lead too is dangerous to one’s health’’

She however  blamed the landlords too for being greedy and refusal to obey the regulations thus receiving blood money.’’The landowners and landlords pay off their lives and that of others because of money and this is bad. The Agency cannot control the land owners or landlords but could only educate , sensitise  them to give them awareness. Sometimes ago,  a mast fell from above in a compound in Akwa  Ibom and killed’’.

Eze said there is a regulation   gazetted by the Federal Government  on the telecom to regulate  the sitting of the masts and  they will adhere strictly to it , she promised  and said there would not be any compromise.

On  prosecution she said ‘’ the telecom industries should be prosecuted for flouting the laws. ’’They take laws into their hands  and behave as if there is no law guiding their industry and that was because nobody had been checking them before .Now, NESREA   is  the first to bring out regulations on telecom .And it is there to enforce the law.

‘’Today , many are dying in silence while others who are not aware of the side effects have  turned hospitals to their second homes as  they  are suffering from various diseases    from leukaemia to  nose bleeding. Many have died without visiting hospital thus there was no autopsy carried out to find out the cause of their deaths and with the  belief that  no man dies  on his own way in Africa, but   believing  it has enemies’ hands.

‘’Now   burials take place   almost every weekends in the villages  as some ignorantly  claim it is enemies’  handiwork yet many who go to the hospital  are returning home  with  medical reports that the masts  are the causative agents of the recorded deaths, said Mr Yemi  Adeseyi.

Some medical doctors interviewed described the matter as an urgent one that needs government attention .’’Since Directors from University Teaching Hospitals have conducted tests on the patients  and the result showed  that they have cancer then  they have spoken. The MTN  must be compelled to pay damages .’’ one of the doctors who begged for anonymity stated.

However when The Nation visited MTN’s  head office at the Golden Gate, Victoria Island  office twice, to hear from their own  side of the story   Andrew  Okeleke  the External Communication Manager  refused to see this reporter but asked him to send his questions and medical reports the complainants sent to him through his e mail   .

I  am  rejected   by my family

Dr .Gladys  Ngozi  Lily Madichie who had  recuperated   from  her unsound mind narrated her ordeal to   Taiwo Abiodun 

Her spoken English with   British accent  combined with her beauty could  melt  a man’s heart. Tall   and   slender   with a pointed nose .Apart from having science   as her background , she is also versatile as  she could  communicate fluently in , Ibo and Yoruba languages.

Seeing her living among the destitute could trigger up questions   :Is she a  patient or among the medical team? And the answer is: she was once a patient or an inmate  and now  part of the medical team here at SO SAID Charity Home , Okotas.

 Dr .Gladys  Ngozi  Lily Madichie schooled in Lagos,  Benin and in Anambra states.  She had a scholarship while in secondary school and from there spent two years for her Higher School Certificate[HSC], at the  Federal School of Arts and Science .She gained admission into the University of Benin where she obtained Bachelor of Science  in  Bio-Chemistry and later   she went  to read medicine and bagged MBBS.

Lily Madichie  once   lectured  at a College of Education after she had  completed her first degree in Biochemistry .She again   practised as a  Medical doctor when she finished from University of Benin. Few years later   she  suffered depression  and was rescued from the  Oshodi /Apapa Express road  by Mrs. Concern Felicia Martins  the Chief executive of So –Said Charity Home  , Okota , a Mental Home where destitute are being treated.

Madichie   was there for some years receiving  treatment .Her condition improved   and  returned to her real old   self .Now she is bouncing and kicking but she is not happy still. Reason  : she  suffered stigmatization and was  not welcomed back home by her siblings and family members.

She tells her story :’’When I   returned   to my  country  home , Anambra state I  was rejected and refused entry into  the  family  house ‘’. Seeing  no where to turn to she  therefore decided to go back to where she came from, So- Said Charity Home, her former “ home’’ .She is now assisting the medical team in treating other patients.

According to Martins, she saw the medical doctor on the express road  few years ago on the Oshodi/Apapa express road where she was  lonely and dying as a result of psychological  depression.

Her words ’’When I  met Dr. Madichie  on  Oshodi /Apapa expressway ,  she was abandoned there possibly by somebody , and her  mental condition  was terrible. She was as dead as dodo. I had no alternative   than to take her away from the vicinity or else she could have been pelted with stones or fast moving  vehicles could have ran over her and killed her.  I went later to do a research about her, she too revealed so many things to me and I had to trace her family to Anambra state. And after some years of taking care of her  she regained her sanity. In 2007, I took her back to her home town in Anambra state where she spent some days , until I saw her here again saying she was not attended to and had lost many of her people. I have no choice than to welcome her back home.’’

Speaking with the medical doctor, she narrated her pathetic story, ’’I am from a big family and most of my siblings are in Lagos , Anambra  and in  Overseas . One day I suddenly found myself here , in Martins home. I asked myself what brought me here .Later the woman who brought  me here narrated the story to me. I call it psychological depression , of which the layman calls mental illness, which can happen to anybody.’’

She continued’’ I went   on to  ask her how , where and what   happened to my life. Well, I need not to be told  later where I was .I was among the  mentally sick  people .Now  look at life as unpredictable .’’she said  in impeccable English   while  gesticulating.

She continued her story’’ I am a medical doctor. In fact before I became a qualified medical doctor , I had done my Bachelor in Biochemistry from University of Benin, and I graduated in 1983.I did my National Youth Service Corps [NYSC] in 1984 at College of Technology ,Nekede in Imo state, where I lectured  the National Diploma II students and the   Higher National Diploma I students too. While lecturing them , the students were very happy to have easily  understood my lecture  because they first of all found it difficult but I made it easy for them, due to the way I explained to them.’’

On how she went for medicine , she said’’ it was my  father’s wish to become a medical doctor and immediately I completed my NYSC, I went back straight to UNIBEN f or the course. When I completed it I bagged my MBBS,   I left Lagos and came to Lagos .I worked in Lagos Island and in one General Hospital. Whoever sees my picture would remember my face.’’

Asked whether she wishes to go back home, the  jovial lady laughed and declared ‘’ in fact I cant understand how this life is. When I went back home two years ago , many of my people who I believe would give me support ran  away from me .I was not allowed to enter my father’s compound. I was later told that my parents had died .Since there was nobody to turn to I decided to come back to So –Said Home ‘’.

Asked whether she had any child or  husband .She screamed ,’’ children? Husband ? I don’t have any’’, she responded and went down memory lane to tell a little about her regret in life.

‘’I regretted that I did not marry early .When we were in the University I remember our lecturers then used to advise us to  quickly marry  and have  our children  early so as to  not to bother ourselves about  marriage. Now, all these are now coming into my memory .That is life. Now I want to start a new life and live my life all over again.’’

But does she still practice medicine? ‘’Yes, I do’’, was her response .’’I assist them here when a woman is in labour. I  prescribe drugs for them  and assist in any other form, but I want to leave here and get settled’’

On her future plans , she said she would like to go further and  specialise in  maxilo-facial surgery   or cardio thoraxic  surgery .

What of marriage ? She said ‘’ I will marry , when the right man comes’’.Again pestered further  as this reporter asked whether he would like to marry him, the medical doctor looked at the  reporter and declared ‘’You,  you  journalist don’t stay at home .Apart from that you must  be a happily  married  man and I don’t want your wife to call me husband snatcher and be fighting me .I want to marry a man that understand my problem not just any man just because I once had a problem , it could be anybody , it could be your sister , auntie, niece or even friends, so my own case is not new. 

‘’Now  I need money to go and rent a house , and I am begging the good spirited Nigerians to come to my aid .I am now okay .It is a pity that my people are no longer interested in me .I believe there is God. If not this woman , [Martins] that is giving me stipend  how would I have been living? .I am   okay .I  will go out there and look for a job ‘’, she said without any bitterness .

She continued ‘’ I am a Christian  and I  am praying to God to answer my requests; which are my prayer points.’’

However, Martins  pleaded to the public and good-spirited Nigerians not to reject their kinsmen , family members or friends who had psychologically depression .’’It is not infectious and it is curable. Many have gone back home living a normal life. She  added ‘’many even marry here and many even have children here as many came with pregnancies and they deliver their babies here.’’

Martins pleaded with the family members of Madichie to come out and look for her , ‘’ she bears no grudge against anybody .It is true that I went  to her town with her and later after some days she returned to me in Lagos saying she has no place to stay than my place for she had  been rejected from her family house .I have no choice  other  than   to accept her. Now, she needs   money to be totally rehabilitated and live her full life.’’     

My life as a Graveyard attendant

    Life as a graveyard attendant has been uneasy and full of nightmares, according to Oloyede he has seen a lot in the cemetery and discovered that life is full of mystery.He spoke  on his experience of how he found himself doing the odd job and many other  interesting things. He spoke with  Taiwo Abiodun                                               

 His look was dull .His eyes were blood shot. His dressing was casual , though he was in Yoruba buba and soro native dress. He wore a forlorn look as no one could tell   what   he was ruminating over. Once in a while he would look round the   office, scratched his head and smiled though a false one, he would again take a look at the holes in his lace and picked strands of thread. The office is filthy as it is  unkempt ,in fact it emits foul odour .The roofing sheets of the office had been blown off by the wind .In fact the remaining iron sheets had become rusty. What of the office? Nothing spectacular could be seen except their working tools; jiggers, ropes, spades,  

bricklayers’  knives with some   earth   glued on them .The environment was silent no wonder the usage of the language ‘’as silent as the graveyard’’ is being used to describe the silence nature of a cemetery. Some of the graves have caved-in,   the leaves are green and bushy while the environment was quiet and silent and one could hear the sound of a drop of a pin .A young man who looked disturbed wore a long face came in and after spending few minutes with the graveyard attendant left with tears in his eyes. According to investigation, he came to prepare for the burial of   a –three day old baby. , the   baby had died as a result of infection she contracted immediately after birth. 

          Welcome to the office of grave diggers’   attendants.’’ I am the head of Ojokoro cemetery  in  Ikorodu local government  here and I have been here since   November 6  1988, I was posted here by Ikorodu Local government ’’.he spoke in a frightened coarse voice as he adjusted his seat .In front of him was a register where the names of the dead are buried ,the  cover of  the   register had turned brown while its almost full with names.

“Rasheed Oloyede is my name and I started this job 19years ago, I went into the profession by accident because it was not my first profession.’ He told The Nation.’Asked to tell the story of how he eventually came to be a graveyard digger, the man looked up as if searching for answer from the ceiling, he then said in emotion laden voice’” I was working as   a welder until 1988 when a mysterious fire gutted my shop and consumed all my welding instruments which then rendered me useless and made me to be jobless yet I had to fend for myself, pay my children school fees and maintain my family. When I was told there was an interview going on in the local government for various jobs I then I applied until I was called to come here as a supervisor of the grave diggers and I was posted to 

to Ikorodu local government’’

Talking about his first experience as a new comer then at the grave site, again the man looked up in a mysterious manner and  said ‘Ha   it was traumatic ,gory and unforgettable ..It was full of nightmares and I will never forget till my dying day.’’

   Giving an account of his working   experience   and what he has seen in his life as a practical life   experience at the cemetery, he said before burying some people strange things do happen in some dug graves, giving an example he said in one of his encounters he and his workers used to meet strange things in the grave, according to him they once met a mortar with a grindstone in the   grave.’ one day my workers were digging the grave when they found a mortar and a grindstone in the grave .The materials were new and shining and they have never been used before ,we were surprised and then kept the items for all to see’’ asked  what he was going to use them for  , the man laughed and said ‘it is kept there[pointing]in a corner and nobody dare  use it we cannot take it home ,  you know it is very strange and everybody is afraid to take it home”.

Another strange thing that happened at the cemetery   that surprised them are bottles of Aromatic Schnapps found in a newly dug grave. ‘’We were surprised in fact   we are surprised with what we always see and experienced here, it is no joke at all.

Again another thing we are still battling with is how the mysterious things  happen almost all the time here .He continued we  see with surprise the materials we used to dig the grave and the ropes used to release the coffin into the dug hole disappear many times after digging the grave .His  words ;’’A times  we look  for the materials used for the releasing the coffin into the grave but with total bewilderment we are always again baffled that these materials will suddenly disappear from the grave and found its way back to the office , I mean the rope, digger, spade among other things’’.

Asked whether it is true that some of these dead ones wake up at night, this  , the man confessed that he is not sure  since nobody stays overnight,’ ”when  it is time to close we will close and go home , nobody sleeps here, so I do not know about what you are talking. I believe when a man is dead he is dead.

.At the cemetery are different types there is a section for the   Christians, the Muslims and pagans, each has its own area where they are buried.

Looked   confirmed that many do come to the cemetery to offer prayers and even do rituals to appease the dead, he gave an example of how a man came to the cemetery to look for his fathers grave. According to Oloyede  the fairly old man said he had been dreaming seeing his father in the dream telling him to go and cover him as the rain was beating him .’When the man came he started looking for a tree his father asked him to look for  at the cemetery until he saw a big  hole where rain had been dropping into ,and this  is where his father was buried, the man then went to look for a bricklayer who blocked the place and plastered it.’’. Oloyede said.

The cemetery is divided into three sections and this also determines the kind of religion one practises before he/she dies as one cannot just come to the place to dump corpses or bury corpses without telling the religion it belonged.

 He however pointed out the separate graves to this reporter, according to him there is a space for the   Christians ,the Muslims and the pagans. Now all these land have filled up with graves, no space to bury any corpse again.

Olojede seems not to be bothered about human being again as his experience has showed that life is vanity, according to him old men   have been brought there to be buried same thing to the younger ones, his words’ they have brought   a day -old kid here for burial, they have brought pregnant women here for burial, they have brought a newly wedded   couple to bury, they have danced to the graves of the aged ones with fanfare and they have cried their hearts here to bury corpses of children. So I have seen the good   ,  the  bad and the ugly. There is nothing in this   life  , we only need to be doing good, that is all’’, he said.

But has he seen ghosts before? The Nation asked, but with a smile the graveyard caretaker responded and said ’no’, .We do not sleep here so we could not have known. I belief when a man is dead he is dead and dead man do not bite

Olojede admits that the job is hazardous and people give uncomplimentary remarks to the workers because of the nefarious activities of few of them .The man who has spent many years as the attendant said he is always baffled the way the rich and the poor invade the cemeteries seeking for human parts, I do not know what the world has turned to , for many people you never expected  would come here to demand for all different parts of human beings .A man  once  came to tell me that  he needed human hands and I told him I do not do such thing .Later he told me that I was a fool and that I  will not be rich in life. In fact we face embarrassment and see how the so called men of God and people of high calibre people in the town are coming here to beg for all these things.

But has he ever been challenged by  security officials or reprimanded?asked The Nation,the man said in total disbelief that he was once trailed to Ikorodu roundabout by a police officer  from the cemetery and was asked to open his polythene bag he was carrying,’ When he challenged me and asked me what I had in my bag I was firstly furious and I opened my bag to show him the medicinal leaves I plucked from the cemetery to boil for my feverish condition and he was relieved as he said he had heard about nefarious activities going on at the cemetery’’.
